I have been following the arrest of the 7 Toronto Police officers<\/a> and if their arrest has caused a loss of faith in the police.

Unfortunately we live in a time ethics has become a lost quality to many including officers.

What is important to remember is that the offences are alleged at this time and to remove any concerns about York Regional investigating the matter.

Corrupt practices occur in all occupations but what is important to restore public trust<\/a> is how the matters are investigated and by whom.

As global temperatures rise, Toronto\u2019s lack of tree canopy<\/a> is turning worsening heat waves into a public safety crisis.

Recently, Toronto has been experiencing an increasing number of heat waves. Many neighborhoods, specifically low-income areas, have low tree canopies and insufficient access to shade in parks, transit stops, and sidewalks. For children, seniors, outdoor workers, and people experiencing homelessness, prolonged exposure of direct sunlight may lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke. Without proper tree coverage, daily activities like waiting for a bus or walking home become dangerous during extreme heat days.

Dr. Stephen Sheppard, professor emeritus at University of British Columbia\u2019s Urban Forestry Program<\/a>, explained that trees act as ‘natural air conditioners’ for communities and are the only effective way to cool entire neighborhoods at once.

Toronto City Council must immediately prioritize ‘tree equity<\/a>‘ by expanding free planting services in low-canopy areas and requiring developers to re-plant every tree lost to construction. This action is necessary to protect the health & well-being of residents and tackle the ongoing climate crisis.

Addressing extreme heat should be a basic responsibility of any government committed to adapting their city to the needs of its residents.

The true story movie Judgement at Nuremberg <\/a>is educational and relevant even more so today. It is about the trial of former Nazi judges including a judge named Janning who before the Naazi\u2019s rose to power was highly respected for his ethics and judicial acumen.

He and several other Nazi judges were imprisoned for crimes against humanity. In one of the final scenes the lead American judge talks to the imprisoned Janning. Janning respects the American judge and says \u201cthose people, those millions of people. I never knew it would come to that. You must believe it\u201d.

The American judge responds: \u201cHerr Janning, it came to that the first time you sentenced a man to death you knew to be innocent.\u201d Janning is talking about the holocaust, but gassing people is not the only way to kill by the millions.

Cutting off American aid to those who depend on it<\/a> for their lives is another way, as is telling people they don\u2019t need to take precautions to prevent spread of a virus. I could go on.

Some people like Conrad Black have said it\u2019s not fair to compare Trump to Hitler<\/a>, but it came to that the first time someone died simply because Trump lied or promoted a conspiracy theory.

Dear Editor,

I can’t imagine what people outside the United States must be thinking of our choices….either Joe Biden<\/a> or Donald Trump<\/a>, for president.

Maybe they simply agree with the vast majority of Americans (64% in the latest polls<\/a>) that they are both too old and at least one of them is an autocrat.

Let me reassure your readers that you are correct on both counts and the first caravan of immigrants will be crossing your border in early November. So, get ready, cause here we come.

STOP CAR THEFTS! <\/strong>

Why not really check the ocean carriers before transportation<\/a> to find out how many cars are in each of these carriers. How else do the cars get smuggled overseas if not by carriers on boats?

That’s the only way they can ship stolen vehicles abroad…not by plane, not by small boats…and maybe by rafts.

Maybe a better check of this might prevent these thefts. Is it too difficult to inspect these before export…. you can check trucks but not boats?
