Poilievre more responsible than Trudeau
The Prime Minister in waiting pens an inspiring open letter to corporate Canada members who should relate and pay heed in order; to bring the Canadian public up to speed on his intentions to govern this distinguished nation.

One of the major reasons, governments fail, is deficient budgeting and massive overspending to procure votes, which never survive the long haul. Notice Greece and their unsuccessful venture into bankruptcy….blunders which should be an eye opener to Canada. Governments that ignore telltale signs are doomed to failure. It must be heart-rending to watch a government implode while standing by powerless to do nothing.

Canadians should brace themselves for life altering changes by the next government because laws will be introduced with some modifications that were previously in effect which will be rescinded. This is harsh but savage advice that needs to be taken seriously and utilized to best advantage.

Mr. Poilievre will act responsibly with our tax dollars unlike the Prime Minister and the finance minister who continuously abuse the public purse as if it were their personal piggy bank.

Mr. Poilievre is certainly adept at reading the room where he draws huge crowds for his political insight and contains a winning strategy.

Mr. Trudeau delivers rambling sermons, and incoherent condescending tones, whereas Mr. Poilievre delivers articulate letters including excellent composed techniques.

Thanking Canadians for your support
As a proud member of my union and a proud Civil Servant, I stand with the thousands of Federal Workers across Canada to work towards a fair deal.

In the lead up to our decision to strike, I was nervous because for me it is a first, however it has become necessary.

I have worked for the Canada Revenue Agency and have been a PSAC employee for eight years. My primary job is to ensure that employers are accurately remitting deductions that belong to the millions of workers across Canada. Speaking with taxpayers daily and ensuring the best support and service is very rewarding.

It has been over two years without a contract which has been difficult my fellow members and I. We are asking for fair wages, as the cost of living along with inflation has been very difficult to live in Vancouver.

Also we are asking for a more inclusive public service with mandatory training on anti-racism and discrimination and harassment.

The support nation wide has meant so much for us working as public servants on behalf of Canadians and I hope an agreement can be come to soon.

Thank You
In response to the front page story of Sat. Aug. 21, 2021 B.C. Pressed To Recognize Qualifications of Foreign-Trained Doctors

Thank you Vancouver Sun for highlighting this important story on your front page.

When it was time to update my hearing aids, I found the practitioner sitting opposite me to be exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. He was someone I had not seen before. He answered my questions thoroughly and in greater detail than I was expecting. I had to know more.

When pressed, Dr. Harry Tabrizi told me his story. I left the hearing aid store that day pleased that my questions and concerns had been professionally answered but also a little sad and annoyed that the powers that be are not putting the needs of citizens first.

Foreign trained doctors who are qualified are a wonderful resource we are fortunate to have in our province. Not using them to their potential is a terrible waste.

He’s Done
Pete McMartin’s recent editorial, “Out of patience for ridiculous COVID skeptics” (pub. Aug 19/21) is an example of how our society has taken a dangerous turn. He is not just “done” with ideas but “done with those.”

“Those” are evidently flesh-and-blood people, people who espouse minority beliefs about Covid-19. The lack of any good-natured humour is shown most clearly in the phrase “spout self-aggrandizing bull crap” which could be intended to be funny, but really just sounds angry.

Who and what is he done with?

He is done with those who listen to the 1/100 politicians who have differing viewpoints and dare to express them, having little to gain for themselves other than a whole lot of trouble. He is done with conservative commentary. He is done with those who exercise their free expression on social media. He is done with those who exercise their free expression about masks, vaccines, and the lessons of history. He is done with those who question those in power. He is done with debate, dialogue, and respectful discourse.

Who in a free society would dare to “quail at mandates?” Time for the thought police! Enough of those who believe in freedom of expression, respect, and tolerance. He, and many in society, are “done with those.”

What does he propose to do with these people whose lives are so “miserable” and “undeserving” to live?

Or maybe he was just joking about the whole thing. Ha . . . um . . . ha?

BC Leadership watch while Covid rages
Dr Bonnie Henry announced that Covid numbers are on the increase over these past weeks. She’s watching and considering, together with Premier Horgan and Minister Dix, while primarily unvaccinated British Columbians fall prey to the Covid virus after the Province opened up.

It’s not good enough……..their obligation is to keep British Columbians safe and not hesitate and wait, instead of making the hard but necessary choices.

Those who remain unvaccinated must immediately get vaccinated. It’s necessary for their own health and safety and they owe their fellow British Columbians this to keep us all safe and healthy.

It’s necessary when you weigh individual rights vs the good for the greater public.

Failure to get double-vaccination should result in an inability to participate in activities like going to restaurants, cinemas, sports events and the like.

Anyone who disagrees has the right to challenge the decision through the Courts.

Our Government has the highest duty to us to keep us safe………they’re in dereliction of their duty!

Water Woes
Precious.

So what’s the most precious thing in the world to you? Is it Gold, wealth, or fame?

The most precious thing in the world is water. No life can exist without it.

And yet we take it for granted, now don’t we? We just assume it will always be there. We are now seeing how water is becoming harder to come by in States like California, and even in parts of Canada.

But in spite of that, our Provincial government is willing to almost give our most precious resource away for pennies to foreign entities for no more than $2.25 for every one million litres extracted. How silly is that?

Our Provincial Government is about to make a decision to allow a foreign company to extract nearly a million litres of water daily from an aquifer near a semi-desert area called Clinton, about a 120 kilometers northwest of Kamloops.

Anyone who knows that area, knows how dry it is, and the fact that many people, including ranchers depend on the same aquifer the proposed bottling company wants to exploit.

Even though bulk water exports in large containers are prohibited in B.C. , water bottling remains totally legal.

Already in California, many quifers that citizens rely on are dried out and much of California is in a dire water emergency. It will only get worse.

How can our government sell one million litres of our water for a disgusting $2.25? How does that make sense on any level?
